Purse Caundle Manor

The sounds of chanting of plainsong have been reported at Purse Caundle Manor (pictured above), and separately the phantom noises of a hunts-mans horn accompanied by baying of hounds. These are said to belong to King Johns hunting pack and are heard if you wait on the Bowling Green on on Midsummer’s night and on Christmas Eve.

Brooks states that in 1874, the newel staircase was removed following regular appearances of an apparition on it.
